About Us
Kormah Shepherd Hood Mission School System
The Kormah Shepherdhood Mission School System (KOSMISS) was first envisioned by Rev. Dr. Jallah Kormah at the Buduburam Refugee Camp in the Gomoa District of Ghana, while he lived in exile during the Liberian civil war.
In February 2009, upon returning home to Voinjama City, Lofa County, Rev. Dr. Kormah was deeply moved by the sight of children loitering in the streets instead of being in school. Further visits to nearby campuses revealed a troubling reality: many children could not afford school fees, while some classrooms stood empty as teachers—discouraged by low wages—abandoned their posts in search of better opportunities.
Driven by compassion and a vision for change, Rev. Dr. Kormah set out to establish a school that would offer affordable, quality, and holistic education to underprivileged children. His dream was to create a safe and nurturing environment where children could not only learn to read and write, but also develop morally, psychologically, and spiritually—with access to daily meals and structured care from 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
On September 14, 2009, this vision became a reality. KOSMISS officially opened in Voinjama with 32 pioneer students, housed in a renovated portion of Rev. Dr. Kormah’s residence, and led by Mrs. Esther Kohone as the first principal.
Since then, KOSMISS has grown remarkably. The Voinjama campus is now a fully accredited senior high school recognized by the Ministry of Education (Liberia). In the 2019/2020 academic year, the school proudly graduated its first senior class of 56 students.
By God’s grace, KOSMISS has expanded beyond Lofa County, opening branches in Wood Camp, Montserrado County (2013) and Gbarnga City, Bong County (2017)—continuing its mission to transform lives through education.
To God be the glory for this journey of growth and impact.

Every day at the Kormah Shepherd Hood Mission School System is a true blessing. Our halls come alive with the curiosity and enthusiasm of our students, while our talented and dedicated staff pour their hearts into guiding, mentoring, and inspiring each child. It is this extraordinary combination of passion, discipline, and care that brings our vision to life and ensures that every learner is not only educated but also nurtured morally, socially, and spiritually. At KOSMISS, we are committed to shaping confident, compassionate, and capable individuals who are prepared to make a positive impact in their communities and in the world.
